Spring horse wellness reset

In-depth, tailored, compassionate and practical help with an assessment and reset of your horse’s health and wellbeing

One-to-one coaching that will transform the way you help your horse

12-week programme of one-to-one coaching calls online

• Are you concerned your horse has underlying pain?

• Are you following a treatment or rehab plan but it isn’t working?

• Does your horse keep re-injuring or returning to illness?

• Do you want to improve your horse’s lifestyle but don’t know how?

It isn’t just what you do, it’s also how you do it that makes or breaks a process of investigation, treatment, or rehab.

Learn a process that honours your horse as an individual and your values as an owner to listen deeply to them and improve your relationship as part of the process.

This is for you if:

• You want to understand and address the deep roots of your horse’s health and wellbeing

• You prioritise your relationship and how your horse feels

• You want expert coaching in assessing and rehabbing your own horse, and in determining what you need from equestrian professionals you call out

• You want to be able to ask a vet questions about the specific process that might be needed for your horse

Please note online consultations are not suitable for urgent or emergency cases - contact your registered vets now if this is the case.

Meet your coach

Hi, I’m Lily, I have been a vet since 2016, initially in general mixed practice, and over the last few years I have changed my approach. As well as my patients, my own horses, particularly Sunny and Beau (pictured here) have taken me on quite a journey and have guided me through developing this new approach.

My passion is helping people and animals to live their best life together by nurturing their all-round wellbeing and unique partnership. I am fascinated by all aspects of wellbeing from how the body functions in health and disease to how we all learn, think and feel, and how all of this is intertwined. I want to help people on their journeys of discovering how to keep horses’ bodies and minds healthy, comfortable, active and engaged and to explore the integral role of both the horse’s and our emotions in all of this.

My approach combines my veterinary background with knowledge of species-appropriate lifestyle, pain physiology, posture and locomotion, hoof care, and remedial exercise, as well as learning theory, trauma-informed horsemanship, and cooperative care training. I offer alternative views on the investigation and treatment of health conditions that help horses and humans to better communicate and heal.

I look forward to meeting you and your horse!

What types of case is this reset for?

  • If your horse is showing signs or behaviours that you are concerned might be indicative of underlying pain, this is definitely worth investigating.

I can help you to work through assessing your horse yourself for possible pain, then making a plan for further investigations and help you with what to expect, what to ask, and when to keep trying when going through an investigative process.

  • Asking the question why did your horse get injured in the first place is important for return to comfort and function.

If your horse is either not recovering as expected from injury or keeps re-injuring, this is especially the case.

I can help you to work backwards to why this may have happened in the first place, and what is needed for your horse in terms of lifestyle or management changes, medical or husbandry interventions, and remedial exercise, and coach you on how to carry these out.

  • A species-appropriate lifestyle that attends to your horse’s physical, mental, emotional, and social needs is necessary for all-round health and wellbeing and good healing.

I can help coach you through making lifestyle and management changes that are practical for you to sustainably do in your unique situation, help you with tailored nutrition plans, how to deliver feed and forage for postural support and enrichment, coach you through recognising when your horse’s hooves need a different approach, and much more.

  • If you are having miscommunications with your horse that mean carrying out a plan is proving difficult, I can help to coach you through finding the deep rooted causes and then improving your relationship and communication.

Common scenarios include foot handling, medication administration, coping with box rest, and cooperating with and enjoying exercise.

How can you help remotely?

There are clearly limitations to the physical assessment I am able to do when I am not examining the horse in-person. The process I guide is in helping you to notice and determine the signs that call for professional help, when and what to keep trying when investigations are inconclusive or plans are not working, and in the specifics of carrying these out, for example guiding changes in lifestyle, hoof care, or exercise plans that are practical for you, or what to do if you are hitting miscommunications with your horse when carrying out a plan.

Can you work with my current professionals?

I am very happy to discuss anything you give permission for with your current attending professionals. We may come from different learning backgrounds and have different skill sets, which will influence the plan and what is practical. I am here to help you to determine what you need in terms of support from professionals.

Can you examine my horse in-person?

I take in cases for boarding at my rehabilitation facility on a track system in West Sussex, UK and do visits in West Sussex and surrounding counties. It is also possible to travel your horse to me for an in-depth assessment - please contact me to find out more.
